Me
What is this all about?
Modern learning is about identifying relevant information, formulating ideas and critically reflecting the solutions created. On this web I hope to be sharing some ideas and offer some of my own interests and theories about learning and thinking. Covering topics such as Learning environments, mental fitness, brain theory, ICT, Art, creative thinking, reflective practice, engagement and more….. I started http://smart-thinking.weebly.com/ 5 years ago as a portfolio of my professional learning, sharing it with anyone who would listen. The site is now used by educators and like-minded thinkers as a resource for information and maybe at times a place to challenge traditional thinking. I have moved a lot of the relevant content to my current learning journey to this new site. I hope you find something of interested.. don’t forget you can search the site on the home page. To brand my philosophy of thinking I use two words: CONSTRUCTIVELY DISCONTENT
“A POSITIVE DESIRE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT AND / OR IMPROVEMENT OF A SITUATION PHYSICAL OR OTHERWISE” Discontent: The noun discontent means "longing for an improved situation,"
Constructive: Constructive is an adjective associated with encouraging development, physical or otherwise. |

A bit about me
I am a dyslexic Product Designer who has fallen into the word of education. I find my struggles as a learner have enabled me to construct relationship with learners on the edges of traditional education. I seek to create learning experiences to engage all learners (adults and children) and challenge them to reach their potential. This means focusing past the socially restrained curriculum and allowing all learners to develop an understanding of self. I have a firm belief that we can serve all the learns in our communities by developing connections locally and globally and embracing the ideas and philosophies laid out in traditional structures like the “Circle of Courage” combined with Grow mindset , Seven Habits , Mindfulness and critical thinking . See Presentlearning.com My latest project (still under development) for an expansion of this theory SMart Simon Mansfield art Constructively Discontent |
